ELIZABETH VON ARNIM (Author, source novel) was born Mary Annette Beauchamp in 1866 Australia, becoming Countess von Arnim through marriage and “Elizabeth” through her pseudonym used to write twenty popular novels, including the sensational best-selling “journal” Elizabeth and Her German Garden (1898), The Benefactress (1901), The Pastor’s Wife (1914), The Enchanted April (1922), and Mr. Skeffington (1940).
